Renaming Computer Name Using ASP.NET (Remotely)

This tutorial will show you how easy renaming user computer name from remote using netdom.

As default netdom is not installed in windows. You must download rktools.exe here and install.

1. Go to mycomputer => right click => click properties => Advanced =>environment Variables => in the system variable click New => Fill Variable name textbox with netdom and variable value with C:\Program Files\Support Tools => click ok.

2. To testing , from command prompt run netdom . example c:\ netdom. If there is no errors then go to next steps.

Running psshutdown using ASP.NET (Shutdown/Restart computer remotely using ASP.NET)

Int this tutorial, i will give simple explanation about How to shutdown/restart/log off computer remotely using asp.net.

What are the benefits of doing this ? and how do the things ?

For IT administrator in big company that have large area such as factory or building this tutorial would be so helpful . Some time we need to restart client computer for certain situation.

This can be done by executing bat file using asp.net. We use web based system because we can access from anywhere.

Step to do :

1. Extract Pstools.zip

2. Copy psshutdown.exe to c:\windows.

3. Create /Temp/restart.bat inside Server application

4. Create /Temp/restart.log inside server application.

5. Don’t Forget to give Access for ASP.NET in temp folder you just created.

6. See This link if have problem when running application after you deploy in IIS.

I’ve found the solution when file cannot be executed after deploy. Just Edit in registry. For more detail see leo_rw suggestion.

Install Windows XP From USB For Netbook or Notebook

Nowadays, many people using netbook to be a mobile person. Because netbook so light and portable, you can bring to Office, cafe or other places.

But for it’s simplicity you get another problem when you need to install Windows XP or other software that using DVD or CD-ROM. Netbook do not have a DVD Drive or CD Drive to open your CD.

There is a way to install your Windows XP without using DVD or CD Drive, but you have to install using USB Flash or other similar device.

In this section, i will give you step by steps how to create Windows XP Installer in USB Flash.

First of all download Windows xp Script and extract .

1. Plug in your USB Flashdisk (example you plug into drive D:> )

2. Prepare your Windows XP Source ( From CD Drive or Folder that contain Windows XP installer). For Example

you put your Windows XP CD in Drive G

3. Open Folder Windows xp script that you have downloaded and extracted.

4. run usb_prep8.cmd (by double click). Press any key to continue

5. Click Start To format USB Flash Disk .

6. After finish format. Close Window and back to Windows command. Enter number 1 to set windows Xp source.

In my case Drive G:>

7. Enter number choice 3 to change Drive Destination ( Drive USB Flash), and input Drive you put USB .In my case drive D.Press Enter => Press any keyto continue.

8. Enter your number choice : 4 to create windows installation. Press Enter

9. Choose Yes if any question you find. And Press any key if you find it. This will create temp directory and copy windows XP to USB Flash disk. This process will take about 15 minutes.

10. In the End Of copy files will show this windows. Please choose No.

11. In the last windows click Yes to un mount temporary drive.

Now you can Install your netbook using usb flash disk. Don’t forget to change your first boot to USB Flash.

Setting jaringan wireless dengan speedy di rumah

Wireless teknologi sudah sangat mudah di jumpai dimana saja. Di hotel, cafe, bahkan di Monas saja kita sudah bisa mengakses wireless (hot spot).

Saya akan membagi pengalaman saya seputar membuat wireless jaringan di rumah menggunakan Speedy.

Sebelumnya saya akses internet menggunakan speedy dan sebuah PC Desktop yang terhubung menggunakan Kabel LAN.

Setelah saya memiliki sebuah notebook, saya harus bisa mengakses Speedy saya melalui wireless LAN.

Tapi bgm caranya ?

Karena sewaktu berlangganan speedy kita sudah mendapatkan modem, jadi kita tidak usah membeli modem lagi.

Yang kita butuhkan adalah Wireless Router. Akhirnya saya membeli sebuah wireless router Linksys WRTG54G.

Langkah2 instalasi Wireless nya adalah :

1. Hidupkan Modem speedy (line telepon harus tersambung juga).

2. Masukan CD Linksys. Ikuti langkah2 waktu instalasi driver linksys tersebut.

3. Hubungkan linksys ke komputer kamu (kabel berwarna biru dari linksys ke notebook).

4. Hubungkan Modem dengan Linksys (kabel kuning).

5. Linksys akan membaca konfigurasi dari modem speedy tersebut.Setelah selesai proses instalasi, lepas kabel biru.

6. Anda sudah bisa menggunakan internet berbasis wireless dirumah. Menyenangkan bukan ? memiliki area hot spot di seputar rumah.

7. Untuk security bisa di beri password untuk koneksi ke wireless connection.

Install SATA AHCI driver for Lenovo G430 using Windows XP Installer

This step will bring you create CD Windows XP Instalation boot for notebook that using SATA AHCI.

I have try this for Lenovo G430(Intel 45 GM chipset), probably work with other notebook like Compaq.

Software you need are :
1 .NetFramework you can download here
2. NLITE here
3. SATA ICH9 Driver here

.> Put Your CD Windows in CD ROM drive For Example G:>

.>Make an Empty Folder . For Example E:>Windows XP Temp

.>Extract ICH9 driver that you downloaded from intel website.

1. Run Nlite -> click next

2. Choose Your Windows Xp Installer . In my case in Drive G:

3. Choose your Folder to locate your Windows XP copy. In my case is E:>Windows XP Temp

4.Click Next

5. Choose Driver and Bootable ISO (to make your instalation cd bootable). Click Next

6.Click Insert ->choose single driver->Open folder driver AHCI -> choose iaAHCI.inf file.

7. Choose ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.

8. Click Yes To process.

9. Click Next

10. Click Direct Burn. Insert blank CD.Click Burn

After CD windows XP installer created. You can run Windows Installer Without pressing F6 to get Driver SATA AHCI.

The Driver depends on your notebook chipset.

Page cannot be displayed when access http://localhost in windows xp

This symptom can be seen in event viewer at system. The error eventid : 6 W3SVC. Class not registered.

This happend after you install .net framework and the class not registered yet.

The solution is: you have to register aspnet.

1. Go to folder C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 (depend on your .net framework version).

2. Type aspnet_regiis -i

This solution works for me.

Encryption and Decryption in ASP.NET using VB.NET

The code is demonstrate how to generate encryption using Rijndael . This code can be customized as you like.

For example, in this source code, i already customized for my needed.

This code is not original version of Rijndael Encryption. I have changed for my customization.

I have test the original version, but sometimes the encryption get error. This version i have tested in my application. So far no problem.
